Aba Prefecture Songpan County

Songpan County is under the jurisdiction of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, located in the northwest of Sichuan Province and the northeast of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. As of July 2025, Songpan County administers 7 towns and 10 townships.
Songpan County is a national-level Qiang cultural ecological protection area with a long history. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, the "Songzhou Guard," "Panzhou Guard," and "Songpan Guard" were successively established, from which Songpan got its name. In 1913, Songpan Directly Administered Department was changed to Songpan County, and the county-level administrative structure has been retained since. Songpan County has developed transportation, with the western line of the "Nine Ring Road" running along the Min River through the entire county. Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport is only 25 kilometers south of the county seat. The natural landscape is complex and diverse, with a complete range and numerous sites. It boasts scenic spots such as Huanglong, Muni Valley, and the ancient city of Songpan.
On April 28, 2019, Songpan County was removed from the list of poverty-stricken counties.
