A Quaint Stay at the White Star Hotel

Initially, we were a bit uncertain about what to expect when we reserved the White Star hotel for a 2-night pre-cruise stay. We enjoy unique experiences but worried it might be too rustic. Fortunately, it was charmingly rustic yet modern and tidy. The hotel is situated on Oxford Street, offering a quick stroll to museums, shopping, restaurants, and the waterfront. The staff—from check-in, to the restaurant/tavern, and housekeeping—were incredibly friendly, making us feel valued beyond just a customer. It's the kind of place where you arrive as a stranger and depart as a friend. This hotel is cozy with only 17 rooms and no elevator, but that wasn't a concern for us. We were on the second floor in the Olympic room; it was small yet sufficiently spacious with lovely amenities. Despite being over a tavern and on a bustling street, we didn't find the hotel noisy, perhaps because our room faced a side street, which surely helped. Regardless, the hotel provides ear plugs, though we never needed them. We opted for the bed and breakfast package, and the breakfast was unquestionably the best I've had at a hotel—every menu item was complimentary and freshly made, alongside a delicious and well-stocked cold buffet. We also dined here (not included) both evenings, drawn by the appealing outdoor patio area and inviting menu. The hotel appears to cater mainly to pre-cruise guests, which suits perfectly; they'll arrange a taxi for you with efficiency—a clipboard and paper record the details. Our cab arrived right on schedule and cost just £10. We absolutely loved our stay at the White Star and have already booked it again for our upcoming cruise next June.
