Kotor in February is Perfect During the Off-Season.
📍Kotor
The fortress, a must-visit scenic spot in Kotor, is free to climb during the off-season (subject to change). While there is a free route via a rugged path, visiting during the off-season around February can save you the €12 fee for the official route.✨
The cobblestone streets of the Old Town exude a quintessential European charm, with every narrow alley offering picturesque views. The city walls surrounding Kotor Port were built by the Republic of Venice, and this Venetian influence is reflected in the architecture throughout the city.
Additionally, the town is filled with friendly and adorable cats.🐈
Climbing to the top of Kotor Fortress takes less than an hour. The stone steps are quite challenging, and being a bit out of shape, I was left with shaky legs from the effort. I climbed it twice, and honestly, the view from around the 8th station (just before the summit) is better for photos and makes for a more enjoyable hike. (See the first image.)
February is the off-season, so many shops were closed, and the town didn’t feel particularly lively throughout the day.
