Dinosaur footprints in Sucre - a great place for kids

The world's largest dinosaur footprint park in Sucre, the capital of Bolivia

🕰️Opening hours 9:00-17:00 Tue-Sun
💰Price per person: 30 Bob (July 2025)

How to get there

1. A shuttle bus to the park departs from Plaza 25 de Mayo. It's a red double-decker bus, so it's easy to find. Round trip: 15 Bob
Time Table
Outbound: 9:30, 11:00, 12:00, 14:00, 15:00
Return: 10:00, 11:30, 13:30, 14:30, 16:00, 17:00

2. Public transport bus: 2 Bob one way

From the intersection of Junin St and Arenales St
Take bus number 4 or H
Many buses pass by, but there is a sign on the windshield. This is the last stop for bus number 4.
On the way back, I was able to catch the number 4 bus from where I got off, but I was told to change to the bus going to Central, which was stopped next to me, so I paid an additional 2 Bob.

It was not difficult at all.
The fare is paid in advance and handed to the driver.
The bus passed through the market in the city, so it took about 40 minutes.

After entering the entrance gate, there is a play area that looks like it would be fun for children. There are also many dinosaur models and explanations about each dinosaur in Spanish. There are also several small exhibition rooms lined up, and explanatory videos are also being played.

At 12:00 and 13:00, you can join a tour, put on a safety helmet, and go up close to the dinosaur footprints. Families with small children did not participate in this tour. To see the footprints up close, you have to go up and down a shaky staircase. It takes less than 5 minutes, but it looks difficult for people who are not acclimatized to the high altitude.
There are many large dinosaur footprints on the protruding cliff-like wall. I've seen footprints on flat ground in other areas, but I think the size of these is what makes them so appealing.

However, I don't think it would be interesting to show these footprints to small children.

The tour itself was less than 30 minutes.
We moved around with a large group, and the explanation was in English and Spanish, but it was surprisingly short and monotonous.

I think this is a very enjoyable place for people who haven't seen dinosaur footprints in other areas, or for people with children. There is also a small gift shop.

There was also a place where you could watch 3D images of dinosaurs by adding 5 Bobs. The facility itself is not very large, and even if you arrive after 11 o'clock and join the tour, you will finish watching by 13:00.

What to bring
