Cruise Around Tahiti on Paul Gauguin

Not many Hong Kong people may know French Polynesia, but I believe everyone is familiar with the name Tahiti (at least for my generation). When I was a child, many beauty pageant contestants were from Tahiti, and there were travel specials introducing them. But in fact, it is not easy to get here because there are no direct flights from Hong Kong. You must first transfer via Japan or New Zealand, and the flight time is almost 17 hours, not counting the waiting time for transfer.
French Polynesia is composed of several groups of islands in the South Pacific, and Tahiti is the largest island among them, so many people call French Polynesia Tahiti. One of the hotels I stayed in in 2017 is also located in the west of Tahiti, which is also the place I will introduce in this article - Le Meridien Tahiti (now renamed Tahiti la Ora Beach Resort). The hotel is approximately 9 kilometers from the airport, making it a great place to stay when arriving or before leaving. As for the rooms, there are rooms with sea view and inner garden, as well as bungalows on the sea. Due to limited budget, we could only stay in an ordinary room. Although they are ordinary rooms, they are very luxurious and spacious, and the rooms are well tidy and almost spotless. The hotel also has a swimming pool. Even those who are not good at swimming can swim while looking at the Pacific Ocean. Of course, when you go to the small island in the South Pacific, you should jump into the sea to experience it whether you know how to swim or not. From the beach you can watch the sun set into the Pacific Ocean, and I even met a cat who came to welcome us. ☺️
The last thing I want to say about the hotel is that the breakfast is very rich, with many different fruits available, and the resident chef will also cook food for you according to your requirements.
You can also visit their markets and try local food, communicate with local residents and dance with them. Of course, you should go out to sea to see the marine life, put aside your busy work, feel the nature and relax yourself. In addition, Tahiti is just a stepping stone, and you must go to several other island groups, such as Bora Bora and Maupiti.
