The first time I came to this museum was when I was in kindergarten. I don’t really remember much about it back then. I just thought the trains were big and it was fun to climb on them. As I grew up, I found that many native Hong Kong people love to come here, and I felt the nostalgia. I personally think that the Railway Museum is for locals, because we have been riding these trains since we were young, and they are the past of our lives. Only with the vague memories of childhood can we feel the cruelty of the current historical wheel and the sweetness of the past...
The museum has an exhibition hall with a number of video and multimedia projects that take visitors on a journey through the past and present of railways in a vivid and interesting way.
After visiting the small exhibition hall, it is the highlight here.
The museum has preserved a total of 7 historical train cars, a steam locomotive, a manual and a motorized engineering vehicle.
Of course, the most distinctive one is the Sir Alexander locomotive No. 51. It is the first diesel-electric locomotive used in Hong Kong and is a product of more than 60 years of history. You can't go inside this locomotive, but you can take pictures with it 📷
