Miyahara Eye Clinic

Miyahara Eye Clinic was originally built in 1927 by Japanese ophthalmologist Dr. Takekuma Miyahara. It was also the largest ophthalmology clinic in Taichung during the Japanese colonial period. After Japan's defeat in 1945, Takekuma Miyahara returned to Japan and Miyahara Eye Clinic became Taichung Health Center. However, with the changes in the times, the old and dilapidated health center gradually became a dangerous building, and even turned into a ruin overgrown with weeds in the 921 earthquake.

The "Sunrise" cake team, which became famous in Taichung for its local pineapple cakes, bought the former site of Miyahara Eye Clinic. The red brick walls and old archways on the outside of Miyahara Eye Clinic have been completely preserved, transformed into a nostalgic red brick and wooden-roofed arcade. When you walk into the store, you will find decorations that imitate those of a retro high-ceiling library, creating a magical space of the old and new eras. In the center of the store, an ancient well that could not be used has been rebuilt into a modern round glass donation box, which shows the ingenuity of the design.
