Taichung Dakeng Trail No. 2 - A Mini Great Wall Made of Wood

1. Introduction
The Dakeng Trail System is located in Beitun District, Taichung City. Among them, Trail No. 2 is popular with visitors for its moderate difficulty and excellent scenery. The trail is approximately 4 kilometers long and takes about 2 to 3 hours round trip, making it suitable for families and beginner hikers. It is a great place to enjoy nature and get some exercise.

2. How to Get There

By Car: Start from downtown Taichung and head towards the Dakeng Scenic Area via Huanzhong Road or Dongshan Road. Once you arrive at Dakeng, follow the signs to the Trail No. 2 trailhead. It is recommended to arrive early to secure a parking spot.
Public Transportation: Take a Taichung city bus to the Dakeng Roundabout Station (such as Taichung City Bus No. 21 or 31), then walk about 10 minutes to reach the Trail No. 2 trailhead.

3. Trail Route

Trail Features: Trail No. 2 features stone steps and wooden paths along the way. The steep slope at the starting point is a bit of a physical challenge, but the overall gradient of the route is moderate, making it suitable for most people. Along the way, you can enjoy panoramic views of Taichung City and rich vegetation.
Path Markings: The trail has clear signposts and multiple rest areas, allowing visitors to take breaks and enjoy the scenery.

4. Precautions

Wear Appropriate Hiking Gear: It is recommended to wear comfortable hiking shoes, bring a sun hat and sunscreen, and wear suitable sports clothing.
Bring Enough Water: Although the trail is not very long, there are no supply stations along the way, so it is advisable to bring enough water to avoid dehydration.
