Day Trip in Taichung : We started our day early at Taichung Second Market, where we warmed up with a comforting bowl of wonton soup—simple yet delicious, perfect for fueling up. Afterward, we strolled to Taichung Park, a peaceful oasis in the city. The 湖心亭 pavilion, sitting in the middle of the lake, has a distinct Japanese influence, a reminder of Taiwan's colonial history. It was a serene spot to take in the surroundings.
For lunch, we headed to a cozy local spot called 乐意坊. The homestyle dishes made us feel like we were enjoying a meal at home, hearty and warm, filling us up for the afternoon ahead.
Later, we took a bus to Gaomei Wetlands, hoping to catch the famous sunset. Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on our side that day. The sky stayed cloudy, and the view was more about the endless rows of windmills than golden horizons. Still, the landscape had a minimalist beauty, with vast stretches of wetland dotted by the turning turbines.
As evening fell, we made our way to Fengjia Night Market for dinner. The bustling atmosphere, filled with the scent of street food, was a perfect end to the day. One highlight was definitely the takoyaki stand opposite the market—a must-try for anyone visiting!
