The Dajia District in Taichung City has been bustling recently, even busier than the annual Mazu procession. It turns out that the Dajia Jenn Lan Temple is holding a ceremony to build a temple for the first time in 36 years. It will officially start on 12/7, and people in the Dajia, Da'an, Waipu, Houli and other religious circles will be vegetarian for a week until 12/15.
I was not yet born 36 years ago, so of course I must seize the opportunity to participate in this event! In total, I visited the Zhenlan Temple "Main Altar" (Figures 1 to 4), the "Guanyin Altar" (Figures 5 to 8) in Dajia District, the "Mazu Altar" (Figures 9 to 12), the "Jade Emperor Altar" (Figures 13 to 14), the "Sanguan Altar" in Waipu District (Figures 15 to 17), and the "Tianshi Altar" in Houli District (Figures 18 to 20). The remaining "Beiji Altar" in Dajia District and the "Shennong Altar" in Daan District have not been visited yet, but I will find time to visit them next week. A total of eight altars have been built.
The various temples will also host arts and performance activities, which will be filled with a lively atmosphere of local beliefs and will also attract people from other counties to join in the fun. Everyone is welcome to join the ceremony if you are free this week!
