Taichung, Taiwan's third-largest city, has become a popular tourist destination in recent years. One of the most talked-about spots is the Rainbow Village (Caihong Juancun), an old residential area with walls covered in vibrant paintings. The unique colors and charming depictions of people and animals make it a favorite photo spot. The artist behind these paintings is an elderly man who came from mainland China long ago. If you visit during the day, you might even meet him.
The walls of the small housing complex are adorned with simple and cute illustrations of people and animals. The occasional text adds a nice touch. Maintenance, restoration, and new additions are ongoing, including face cutout boards featuring Mr. Huang's paintings and large bear statues. Each visit offers new discoveries.
