🌸"Mother in the Mountains: A Visit to Ciyuan Temple in Lishan"
Traveling north along the winding mountain road, the sun blazed brightly, yet also illuminated the sea of clouds and the peaks. Arriving at nearly 2,000 meters above sea level in Taichung's Heping Lishan, I stood at this lofty point where heaven and earth meet, paying homage to a tranquil and compassionate mother deity—the Mother Temple of Ciyuan Temple, the Wuji Yaochi Great Saint Xiwang Jinmu.
The mountain breeze blew gently, the sun shone brightly on the temple grounds, and white clouds whispered in the distance with the mountaintops. The Mother Temple sits amidst a breathtaking expanse of views, facing the majestic mountains and nestled against the backdrop of Taiwan's spiritual mother mountain range—the Xueshan Mountains. The temple is not ornate, but it exudes a warm and steady aura, like motherhood—unassuming and unobtrusive, yet powerful enough to sustain all the fragility and prayers of heaven and earth.
Entering the temple, I quietly lit a stick of incense, and a sense of indescribable peace settled within me. Looking up at the statue of the Mother Goddess, her face beckoning with compassion, she clutches a ritual instrument and wears a phoenix robe. Her demeanor is majestic yet not intimidating, instead conveying a gentle, inviting presence. As I depart, clouds shimmer in front of the temple, like phoenixes dancing across the sky. Looking back at the Mother Hall, a phrase comes to mind:
"Mother is in the mountains, and the heart of Heaven is not far away."
This trip to Lishan is more than just a scenic journey; it's a spiritual journey.
