Chihkan Tower is located in the West Central District of Tainan City. It is a first-class historical site with a history of more than 300 years. Chihkan Tower was originally named "Fort Provintia" and was built by the Dutch in 1653. The highlights of Chihkan Tower are the Wenchang Pavilion and the nine stone turtle steles also known as Beishi. Currently, due to the earthquake, the building structure, interior and exterior of Chihkan Tower need to be inspected and repaired. The scope of the project covers the Temple of the Sea God, Wenchang Pavilion, Penghu Academy, the base, the remains of the entrance from the Dutch period and the remains of the bastion from the Dutch period. The project has now entered the second phase of the restoration of the Poseidon Temple. In order to avoid damage to the nine Beishi steles bestowed by Emperor Qianlong on the south side of the Poseidon Temple and to prevent the restoration project from being damaged, protective plates are placed between the Poseidon Temple and the Beishi steles. We came at a bad time because, apart from the Temple of Poseidon being covered by painted canvas, we couldn't take a direct picture of the entire appearance of Wenchang Pavilion and the Bishi Stele, so we could only wait until the restoration work was finished before visiting on another day.
