#SeptemberGoodPlaces2025

The Tainan Patriotic Women's Association, located in the West Central District of Tainan City, Taiwan, is a significant building from the Japanese colonial period and was designated a Tainan City Historic Site on June 26, 1998. The association was built in 1940 (Showa 15) by the Japan Patriotic Women's Association as its Tainan branch. Initially comprised of women of social standing, the association aimed to promote local development and social services, and to promote patriotism towards the Empire of Japan. After World War II, the association was transferred to the management of the Red Cross. From 1948, it served as the American Information Office and library in Tainan. In 2001, it became the Central District branch of the Tainan Municipal Library. After renovations in 2012, it became the offices of the Cultural and Creative PLUS-Tainan Creative Center and is currently a venue for cultural and art exhibitions. The hall is divided into a front building and a back building. The front building serves as exhibition and office space, preserving a blend of Japanese and Western architectural styles, featuring a stonewashed base, brick facades, and octagonal windows. It houses an art exhibition area and tatami rooms. The back building is currently used by the Red Cross and is not open to the public. The hall frequently hosts cultural and creative events and exhibitions. The "Tainan Traditional Crafts Exhibition" will be held in September 2025, showcasing local handicrafts and making it a great place for cultural enthusiasts. A light jacket is recommended for cool winter weather. There are rest areas and a shop within the hall, but some exhibitions may require reservations, so confirm in advance.
