Memories of the Military Dependents' Village

Today, I checked into the Taipei Eslite Hotel, located in the heart of the Xinyi District. The hotel features a minimalist and modern design, directly facing the iconic Taipei 101. In the afternoon, I took a leisurely walk to Si Si Nan Cun, a well-preserved military dependents' village that has now become a gentle hub for cultural exhibitions and handmade markets. The weathered walls and handwritten doorplates transport visitors back to the old days of Taipei. The photo exhibition area narrates the life stories of mainland Chinese immigrants when they first arrived in Taiwan, showcasing simple yet deeply emotional moments that are truly moving. In the café, old songs play softly, and time seems to slow down, like a film reel unwinding frame by frame. By evening, I returned to the Eslite Hotel. As the city lights came on, the bustling urban landscape intertwined with the tranquility of the old village in my mind, much like the contrasting chapters of life.
