Located in Taipei's Shilin District, the Shilin Residence spans approximately 9.28 hectares and was originally the residence of Chiang Kai-shek. Today, it is a popular ecological and cultural attraction. The grounds are divided into the Outer Garden, Inner Garden, and Rose Garden, featuring a rich variety of plants including roses, orchids, plum blossoms, azaleas, and various tropical species. There is also a greenhouse cultivating rare species. The Outer Garden is designed in a European style with lush green lawns; the Rose Garden bursts into vibrant colors in spring; and the greenhouse showcases cacti, succulents, and tropical flowers. The park is free to enter and conveniently accessible, just a 10-minute walk from Shilin MRT Station.
Visiting the Shilin Residence, I was amazed by the diversity of flowers. The Rose Garden in spring is a feast for the senses, with roses in full bloom and their fragrance lingering in the air, making it hard to leave. The tropical plant section in the greenhouse feels like a miniature rainforest, with cacti of various shapes that highlight the creativity of nature. The park also features an ecological pond and small bridges over flowing streams, adding to the tranquil atmosphere. Strolling through the grounds, you can appreciate the beauty of the plants while soaking in the historical ambiance. It’s an ideal destination for family outings or flower enthusiasts. My only suggestion is to avoid visiting on weekends to enjoy a more peaceful experience!
