🏛️ Taipei 228 Park (228 Peace Park), located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, is Taiwan's first urban park. Built in 1899 during the Japanese colonial period (formerly known as Taipei New Park), it was renamed "228 Peace Park" in 1996 to commemorate the February 28 Incident of 1947, transforming it into a historical monument and a symbol of peace.
The park preserves historical sites such as the Public Welfare Archway and the Huang Family Chastity Archway. It also houses the 228 National Memorial Hall, the Peace Bell, a monument, and an ecological pond, integrating historical education, art, and natural beauty. Memorial services and cultural performances are regularly held there. It is conveniently located near the National Taiwan University Hospital MRT station.
