Family Trip in Taipei｜Yangmingshan One-Day Hiking Route Share

If you also love taking your kids close to nature, Yangmingshan is truly a must-visit spot in Taipei! This time we started from Shilin, took a bus for half an hour to enter the mountain, surrounded by greenery all the way, and the kids were super happy～

⛰️Getting to Know Yangmingshan

Yangmingshan National Park mainly consists of the Datun Mountain, Qixing Mountain, and Qingtian Gang mountain ranges. The trails are well planned and well maintained. It’s very safe to walk with kids, and along the way, there are various plants and insects to observe, making it a great natural classroom!

🗺️Easy Family Route

The official website map marks many trails, which I’ve included at the end for reference. The orange routes have bus stops. If it’s your first time, I recommend choosing the family tour routes suggested on the official site to save time and effort～

This time we walked from Fengguikou to Lengshuikeng, about 9 kilometers, playing and walking for two and a half hours. If the kids like walking, you can also add Xiaoyoukeng and Erziping, with spectacular grasslands and volcanic scenery all along the way!

📷Kid-Friendly Attractions

There are many attractions on the mountain, which you can choose based on your child’s stamina and interests:

Hot Springs: Lengshuikeng, Qianshan Park, and Macao all have public hot springs. Although simple, they are very unique, and kids enjoy soaking their feet and playing in the water.

Dining: Recommended “Qingcaiyuan” for traditional flavors and reasonable prices; “Shanshang Liao” and “Haoyang Secret Realm” have beautiful environments, perfect for photos and resting.

Cultural Sites: Yangming Book House is suitable for older kids to learn some historical stories.

🚗Family Transportation Tips

Taking the bus is the easiest! No need to find parking, and you can adjust your itinerary anytime. There are direct buses to Yangmingshan from several Taipei MRT stations. It’s recommended to check the schedules on Google Maps before departure, as some minibuses have fewer runs, so pay special attention to the times.

On weekdays, it’s super fast from Shilin to Fengguizui, only 25 minutes to the foot of the mountain! On weekends when it’s crowded, consider leaving early or driving instead.
