Taipei's mango shaved ice and traditional sweets (guzaomei) are incredibly crowded, with long lines. It's tough to wait in line in Taipei during the hot weather.
Tangyuan Shijia is just a few minutes' walk from Ximen Station. I dropped in on a whim and found the food delicious, so I've been going there every time I visit Taipei ever since.
As expected, many tourists frequent the downtown shops, so this shop, frequented by locals, is relatively quiet.
But! I can guarantee the taste! It's so good I almost want to keep it a secret.
In addition to mango shaved ice, you can enjoy a variety of traditional sweets.
If you're looking for a local atmosphere and delicious food over flashy items, this is the place for you!
The staff are friendly, and the very docile dog will come and sit at your feet. ^_^
