Lisong Hot Spring, known as the most beautiful wild stream hot spring in Taiwan, is a unique gift from God to Taitung. However, if you want to visit Lisong Hot Spring, you have to travel through mountains and rivers. If you don’t have enough physical strength and courage, you can’t get there.

The entrance to Lisong Hot Spring is located at 168.5k on the Southern Cross-Island Highway. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there from Guanshan, Taitung. Because the road is narrow, unless you ride a motorcycle, you have to stop and walk about 3 kilometers to reach the entrance.

From the entrance, you have to cut down into the valley, using your hands and feet along the way, and even climbing ropes. It is really difficult! The entire downhill route took one hour, with a height difference of about 400 meters. The steep road in the second half was even vertical at nearly 90 degrees, which really tested one's physical strength.

After finally cutting down to the riverbed of the valley, you still have to wade through the water, so you can't go there during the season when the water is fast-flowing. You can only see the mysterious Kurimatsu Hot Spring during the dry season from November to April. However, only after all the hardship can one know the sweetness. After exerting physical energy, soaking in the warm spring water is really comfortable, and the fatigue is instantly washed away.

The spring of Lisong Hot Spring is a weakly alkaline carbonate spring with a water temperature of about 44~65℃ and a pH value of about pH7. It is rich in minerals. The calcium carbonate crystals condensed along the mountain wall are attached by algae that love hot springs, producing a bright green color like emerald. No wonder it is called the most beautiful spring in Taiwan.
