Sanxiantai Cross-Sea Bridge - Chenggong Township, Taitung County

Sanxiantai is arguably the most famous tourist attraction in Taitung, drawing more visitors than other scenic spots or rest areas along Highway 11. The name "Sanxiantai" comes from the legend that three immortals—Lü Dongbin, He Xiangu, and Li Tieguai—once visited this island. In 2009, the eight-arch cross-sea bridge to Sanxiantai Island was completed. Before its construction, visitors could only reach the island by wading through the water during low tide. The bridge, with its wave-like design resembling a giant dragon lying across the sea, has become a prominent landmark on the East Coast. Sanxiantai is also a popular spot to welcome the first sunrise of the year 🔆, with live performances adding to the festive atmosphere. If you're looking for a unique way to celebrate New Year's and catch the first rays of sunlight, Sanxiantai is undoubtedly your top choice.
