#chinatravel Hobe Fort is a super chill and interesting place to explore if you like quiet spots with a bit of history and a great view. It’s not too crowded, and walking around the old stone walls feels like stepping back in time. The fort sits up on a small hill so you get a pretty cool overlook of the river and surrounding area.
Built in the late 1800s during the Qing Dynasty, Hobe Fort was part of Taiwan’s coastal defense system. It was meant to guard against foreign ships, especially during a time when tensions with Western powers were heating up. You can still see the old cannons and military structures that were used back then.
It’s a small site but peaceful and super well kept. The open space and breeze make it a nice break from the city. If you’re in Tamsui and want something a little different, Hobe Fort is a fun and easy stop.
