Located in Takashima City in northern Shiga Prefecture, Metasequoia Avenue is a popular spot for viewing autumn leaves, and has been selected as one of Japan's New 100 Best Roadside Trees. While the area offers different views throughout the seasons, it's especially popular during the fall foliage season.
You can drive through the approximately 2.4-kilometer Metasequoia Avenue, which features approximately 500 trees.
There are side roads, so you can also enjoy the avenue on foot, allowing you to fit your schedule into your enjoyment.
If you have the time, you can park your car at nearby Makino Pickland, so we recommend using that when visiting.
Due to its popularity, parking can be time-consuming and the surrounding roads can be congested, so it's best to visit at a different time.
There's also a cafe.
Since it's outdoors, it's a great place to bring your pets!
