One of the most popular and scary uninhabited islands in the world, this deserted place was a weapon hotspot during first half of the twentieth century.
The ferry scheduled to depart from Tadanoumi Port at 4:20pm was delayed so we didn't arrive at Okunoshima Pier No. 2 until after 5pm.
From the pier, we took a free bus to Kyukamura and headed there. It was also about a 10-minute walk to Kyukamura.
After passing the campsite, we started to see rabbits on the side of the road, and the little kids let out cheers.
When we arrived at Kyukamura, there were already rabbits everywhere in the open and comfortable square in front of us, so we were able to fully achieve our purpose in visiting the island.
However, perhaps because of the day and time we visited, many of the rabbits were not very keen on the food, but even at the very end of the day when it was crowded with people on the holiday, the rabbits still came near to people and ate their food well, so we were grateful for their hospitality, or rather their appetite.
The white rabbit and the baby rabbits were the cutest among the many rabbits.
I was planning to return at 18:20 and arrived at the pier five minutes early, but the boat was full and I ended up waiting for an hour.
The advice from others that you should arrive at the pier 20 minutes before your intended return time was spot on, as long as it's on a holiday.
It was an open and natural place reminiscent of a tropical resort, so instead of just seeing the rabbits and heading home, I would definitely like to stay the night at the Kyuka Mura next time I have the chance.
