🚗 A Day Trip to Tangshan: Exploring from Tianjin! 🗺️

#chinatravel
Ready for a quick getaway from Tianjin? Here’s a full-day itinerary for exploring Tangshan, from scenic parks to industrial-chic art zones and delicious local eats.

☀️ Morning: Nanhu Park (南湖公园)

Start your day at this massive, free park. It's split into two parts:

Da Nanhu (大南湖): Perfect for a morning stroll or a bike ride with huge lake views and lush gardens.

Xiao Nanhu (小南湖): Best to visit at night for its beautiful light displays, but the entire park is great for some fresh air.

🍽️ Lunch: Tangshan's Famous Spicy Chicken!

Locals swear by this dish! Find a reputable spot and order the famous Spicy Chicken Chunks (麻辣鸡块). It's a sweet and spicy kick that's incredible with a bowl of rice. Don't forget to get the Fried Soybeans with Cowpea (鸭黄豆角) too—it's another must-try signature dish.

🏛️ Afternoon: Art & Architecture

After lunch, head to two unique spots for photos and culture:

Qixin 1889 Cultural & Creative Park (启新1889文创园): This is a repurposed cement factory that's now an industrial-style art district. The red brick walls and steel structures are perfect for a cool photoshoot.

Tangshan Catholic Church (唐山天主教堂): A stunning Gothic-style church with gorgeous stained-glass windows inside. It's a peaceful place for quiet photos and admiration.

🍜 Dinner & Night: Tangshan's Best!

Before you head home, you have to eat at Tangshan Yan (唐山宴)! This food hall is a hub for all the best local flavors. Make sure to try:

Chess Piece Biscuits (棋子烧饼): Savory, flaky biscuits with a fragrant meat filling.

Xiao Shan Fried Dough Cakes (小山炸糕): A different flavor from the ones you find in Tianjin.

Honey and Malt Sugar Pastry (蜂蜜麻糖): A sweet treat that's not too rich, perfect for a souvenir!

After dinner, stroll down Hetou Old Street (河头老街). This ancient-style street lights up at night, making it feel like you've traveled back in time to the Tang Dynasty. Just a heads up, if it rains, some of the evening performances might be canceled or delayed.

💡 Quick Tips:

Nanhu Park is huge, so rent a bike or other transport to save your feet!

Hetou Old Street gets crowded at night, so go early if you want to beat the rush.

For the Spicy Chicken, the most famous restaurants all taste pretty similar, so you can't go wrong with any of them.

Have fun on your Tangshan adventure!
