A Secret Place Around Shimen Reservoir--Shuangshi Vertical Walk

#MarchGoodPlaces2025
The Shuangshi Trail is a trail from Shimen Mountain in Taoyuan to Shiniushan Mountain in Hsinchu, both of which are among the 100 Small Mountains in Taiwan.
The path is not technically difficult, and its special feature is that it goes all the way around the Shimen Reservoir.

Shiniushan Mountain is located at the junction of Hsinchu and Taoyuan. It is named after the huge rock on the top of the peak which resembles a lying giant bull. It is one of the 100 Small Peaks in Taiwan. Although it is not high in altitude, it has a very broad view. It has now been split into two halves due to an earthquake.

Shimen Mountain is named after its location on the west side of the Shimen Reservoir. It has an altitude of 551 meters and is one of the 100 Small Mountains in Taiwan with a good view.

The Shuangshi hiking trail is almost entirely under the shade of trees, with abundant forests along the way. You can also see the scenery of the Shimen Reservoir and the beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains. No wonder it is known as a beautiful secret place.
