Tatev Monastery

Location: Syunik Region, Armenia

The monastery stands on the edge of the deep gorge of the Vororan river. It was built in the 9th century. In 14-15th century monastery hosted one of the best known Armenian medieval universities. Tatev is known as the bishopric seat of Syunik.
In 2010 a cableway was opened in Tatev to the village of Halidzor which was included in Guiness world record as longest non-stop double track cable car.
