Address: Tateyama Town, Nakaniikawa District, Toyama Prefecture (Mount Oyama, 3,003m)
Atmosphere/Facilities:
Mount Oyama is one of the highest peaks in the Tateyama mountain range. The route from Murodo to the summit offers a variety of scenery, and the higher you climb, the more exciting it becomes. The summit is home to the main shrine of Mount Oyama Shrine, and on clear days, you'll enjoy a spectacular 360-degree panorama. Mountain huts and restrooms are limited, so plan your breaks and bring plenty of water.
Recommended for:
[May (Remaining Snow)]
A blanket of snow, with a strong hint of winter still present, makes for a special adventure as you walk along the snowy ridgeline. The pale blue contrast between the sky and snow is beautiful, and reaching the summit offers an exceptional sense of accomplishment. Crampons and warm clothing are essential to avoid the risk of falling.
[Autumn (September-October)]
This is a spectacular season, as the autumn leaves paint the mountainside, bathing you in a vibrant array of colors. As the snow melts, the rocky ridges become easier to navigate, making this a great time for beginners. However, it's already winter cold at the summit, so gloves and warm clothing are still necessary.
Snow in spring, colorful autumn. Climbing Mt. Oyama offers completely different views depending on the season, making it a rewarding experience where you can savor the power and tranquility of nature even on a solo trip.
