Tengchong | A hot spring hotel with a volcano view in China!

Soaking in a hot spring is one of the main reasons why people come to Tengchong in winter. There are many luxury hotels to choose from, such as Banyan Tree Tengchong in Mayu Valley and Bolian Resort & Spa in Heshun Ancient Town. The prices are quite high, at least CNY 3,000–4,000. There is a hot spring resort inn in the city with a good reputation and a lower price. I stayed there for a day and here is my review:

📍Address: Building 17, Group 3, Gaoligong International Tourism City, County Road 192. You can navigate directly to the hotel. If you drive, you will need to climb some small hills. You can park your car on the ground in front of the hotel.

🌟Highlights:

👉I chose this hotel mainly because it is located halfway up the mountain, overlooking the beautiful scenery of Tengchong and the volcano in the distance. It has a quiet atmosphere and is close to the city. You can hear birds singing in the morning and see the stars at night. The hot spring pool is carbonated and located on the outdoor terrace. With cold brew tea and rose petals, and a lounge chair next to it, it is very warm even in winter. The view of the volcano opposite is very unique.

👉At night, you can soak in the private hot spring, look at the bright lights outside, and listen to music. It is very relaxing. Hot water is available 24 hours a day, so you don't have to worry about it being too late. The dinner set menu is very good, costing more than CNY 300 for two people. You can tell that the ingredients are carefully selected. The hotel has an independent restaurant, lobby bar, outdoor viewing platform, and various viewing and leisure areas, all of which are very photogenic. Especially at sunset or during the blue hour, the view is very wide.

The room is very large, like a villa suite. The decoration style is a bit industrial, with some log decorations, like being in Northern Europe. It is very high-end. This hotel is also one of the top five internet-famous hotels in Tengchong.

💰Average Price: The cost performance is relatively high. The price is more than CNY 1,000, and the scenery is much better than Banyan Tree and Bolian Resort & Spa.

📝Tips:

I went in late December. The weather in Tengchong was still more than 20°C during the day, making it a good place to escape the cold. In addition to soaking in the hot spring, visiting the famous Heshun Ancient Town and some natural geological attractions are also features of Tengchong.
