Family trip to Tengchong Ginkgo Village! Taking a 2-year-old for 3 days without tiring mom, plus a tutorial for parent-child photos under the ginkgo trees

🍂Tengchong Ginkgo Village is really perfect for traveling with kids! As a mom traveling with a 2-year-old, this 3-day, 2-night itinerary was planned clearly, the kid had a great time, and parents could easily take photos~
Day 1: Arrive at Ginkgo Village, stay at "Under the Ginkgo Tree Homestay." It takes about 40 minutes by taxi from Tengchong Airport to Ginkgo Village, costing 80 yuan. It’s recommended to choose a homestay with a small courtyard. Our homestay courtyard had two century-old ginkgo trees. When we arrived, the kid was immediately attracted by the ginkgo leaves on the ground and squatted playing for half an hour without needing to be coaxed. In the afternoon, we strolled around the homestay area. The homestay owner prepared a small basket for the kid to collect ginkgo leaves and even helped us take family photos for free! For dinner, we had ginkgo stewed chicken at the homestay. The chicken was tender, the soup fresh and sweet, the kid drank two small bowls and slept very soundly.
Day 2: Deep exploration of Ginkgo Village and parent-child photo shoot. We left at 9 AM to avoid the tour group rush and first went to the "Ginkgo King" attraction. This tree is huge, requiring three adults holding hands to hug it. Let the kid stand under the tree while parents crouch down to interact, like helping the kid pick up leaves or throw leaves together. Use burst mode on your phone to capture very natural parent-child photos (remember to turn on live mode and select the most lively moment). For lunch, we went to the village restaurant "Ginkgo Family," ordered stir-fried ginkgo nuts (slightly bitter, the kid might not like it, but adults can try), and steamed fish (few bones, suitable for kids), costing about 60 yuan per person. In the afternoon, we visited the "Ginkgo Village Museum," which has educational exhibits about ginkgo and small models. The kid could see the models to learn about the ginkgo tree’s growth process. The museum has a rest area where you can prepare milk powder and change diapers, very convenient. At dusk, we went to the "Village Entrance Rice Field," where the rice fields and ginkgo forest frame each other beautifully under the sunset. Let the kid sit on the ridge while parents stand nearby; the photos come out very atmospheric.
Day 3: Off-the-beaten-path activities nearby and easy return. No need to get up too early. After breakfast at the homestay (includes white porridge, eggs, steamed buns, which the kid loves), we went to the "Ginkgo Village Handicraft Workshop" to make ginkgo leaf specimens. The teacher taught how to press leaves and paste them into a specimen book. The finished specimen book can be taken home, costing 30 yuan each, a very meaningful souvenir. At noon, we packed up and went to Tengchong city for a good meal. We recommend the "Heshun Family" restaurant, ordering Dajiujia (stir-fried rice cakes, kid-friendly) and a clay pot dish (similar to hot pot with rich ingredients). After eating, we took a taxi to the airport to end the trip.
Tips to avoid pitfalls! ① Don’t buy "ginkgo accessories" at the scenic spot entrance, like ginkgo leaf necklaces, which cost 20 yuan each and are made of plastic, easily broken; ② Don’t take the village’s "electric tricycles," 10 yuan per person. The village is small and walkable, and riding misses the scenery along the way; ③ Don’t wear dark clothes for photos. Dark colors don’t match the yellow ginkgo leaves. It’s recommended to wear white, light pink, or light blue clothes for a fresher look; ④ Always bring mosquito repellent when traveling with kids. Ginkgo Village has many trees and mosquitoes, so don’t let the kid get bitten.
Packing list! Foldable stroller (must-have, the village roads are flat and easy to push), thermos cup (for warm water so the kid can drink anytime), change of clothes (the kid will get dirty playing with leaves), wet wipes, tissues, mosquito repellent, sunscreen (the sun is strong at noon, apply sunscreen to the kid), and snacks (for when the kid gets hungry).
This Tengchong Ginkgo Village family trip was really amazing. The kid often talks about picking ginkgo leaves at home and we will definitely come back next autumn~
