Getting Lost (in the Best Way) in Shannan

#chinatravel Shannan, in the heart of the Tibet, totally surprised me, in the best possible way. I went in with zero expectations and left with a full heart and way too many photos. The vibe here is just... peaceful. Everything feels slower, more intentional. It’s like the mountains are reminding you to breathe a little deeper.
Yamdrok Lake was unreal, bright turquoise water surrounded by soft, rolling hills. Honestly, it looked like someone cranked up the saturation in real life. And Samye Monastery? Pure magic. It’s the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet, and you can feel the history in every corner.
The people were warm and welcoming, always offering a smile (and sometimes yak butter tea, an acquired taste, but I was into it). Even just wandering the quiet streets of small villages felt special.
If you’re craving a reset, some fresh mountain air, and a place that feels completely untouched by chaos, Shannan is your spot. Highly recommend.
