I have always wanted to explore every corner of Tokyo, especially those places full of history and culture. This time I found a very special and interesting classic bar.
Kamiya Bar is a historic bar founded in the 13th year of the Meiji era, and it has a history of more than 100 years. It used to be a gathering place for many literary masters and celebrities, such as Natsume Soseki, Mori Ogai, and Tokugawa Ieyasu. Here, you can feel the atmosphere of Tokyo's traditional culture, and you can also taste the century-old Denki Bran.
Denki Bran is the signature cocktail of Kamiya Bar, which has a history of 100 years. This cocktail is named after the very novel electricity at the time, and with its strong alcohol concentration, it became the most popular drink in the Asakusa Six District at the time. The alcohol concentration of Denki Bran has now dropped to 30 degrees, but it still retains the taste and flavor of the time.
Of course, you have to order a Denki Bran when you come here, and it is paired with a plate of frozen meat, which is a very traditional Japanese snack. Denki Bran is made from brandy, gin, liqueur, curacao and herbs. I had mixed feelings after drinking it. The sweet, strong taste of liquor hit me. Although I don't think it is a wine that the general public will like, friends who often drink will definitely feel its uniqueness. It is the type that is often said "I like it very much if I like it, and I don't like it very much if I don't like it".
In addition to Denki Bran, Kamiya Bar also has many other traditional cocktails and snacks, such as plum wine, grilled eel, etc. The atmosphere here is very comfortable and relaxing. You can come here to drink and chat with friends, and at the same time you can feel the unique culture and customs of the Japanese. It feels like time is frozen in a hundred years ago.
