[Tokyo] If you want to see cherry blossoms in Tokyo, go to "Shinjuku Gyoen" 🚶‍♀️

Shinjuku Gyoen, located a 10-minute walk from Shinjuku Station, is also popular as an oasis in the city. 👏

Shinjuku Gyoen is one of Tokyo's best cherry blossom viewing spots, and every April the Prime Minister hosts the Cherry Blossom Viewing Party. 🌸

Today, we'll be introducing the cherry blossoms at Shinjuku Gyoen! ! ! !

--- Cherry blossoms that are in full bloom each month---

There are many different types of cherry blossoms planted in Shinjuku Gyoen!

The cherry blossoms that can be seen at different times of the year are different, so we'll give you a rough introduction by month. ☺️

○ February

In late February,

・Satsuma-kanzakura (Japanese garden)

・Kawazu-zakura (in front of Restaurant Yurinoki)

will be in full bloom! 🙌

February is a recommended season for those who want to take their time to enjoy cherry blossom viewing, as there are few flowers in full bloom◎

In addition to cherry blossoms,

・Winterweave (in front of the management office)

is also in full bloom, so we recommend viewing them together!

○ March

In early March,

・Tsubakikanzakura (the garden path connecting Shinjuku Gate and Okido Gate)

is in full bloom!

The deep pink petals are cute! 🩷️

In mid-March,

the number of cherry blossoms in full bloom increases dramatically,

and Shinjuku Gyoen is filled with the color of spring. . . 🌸

・Oshimazakura (round flowerbed)

・Weeping cherry (lower pond)

・Takatokohigan (near Tamamo Pond and lower pond)

Various other cherry blossoms are in full bloom!

This is a recommended season for those who want to see many kinds of cherry blossoms 👏🏻

Somei-yoshino, the standard cherry blossom tree, will also bloom in mid-March!! 👍

○ April

In early April, Ichiyo (cherry blossom orchard) and others will be in full bloom!

Ichiyo is the cherry blossom that represents Shinjuku Gyoen, so you can aim for this timing to go 🫶

However, depending on the weather, the viewing time may be earlier or later than the stated best time!
For the latest flowering information, please check the Shinjuku Gyoen website 🙏
