From late March to early April every year, Tokyo's Ueno Park transforms into a sea of pink and white cherry blossoms. The park is home to over a thousand cherry trees, mainly Somei Yoshino, concentrated along the Ueno Onshi Park Avenue. When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the entire road is bathed in soft light, and walking through it feels like strolling through a pink tunnel.
This is one of Tokyo's favorite cherry blossom viewing spots, not only because of its convenient access (right outside Ueno Station), but also because of the lively atmosphere. Whether on weekdays or weekends, the lawns and pathways are filled with people picnicking and gathering. Some bring bento boxes and mats, enjoying the flowers while basking in the spring sunshine. At night, the cherry blossoms are illuminated, extending the flower season into the evening with a unique charm.
Besides cherry blossom viewing, Ueno Park also features attractions like Ueno Zoo, the Tokyo National Museum, and Shinobazu Pond, making it perfect for a full-day itinerary. It’s recommended to visit on weekdays to avoid crowds and don’t forget your camera—every photo looks like a scene from a Japanese drama. Spring in Ueno is a perfect blend of visual beauty, atmosphere, and warmth. #TokyoUenoCherryBlossomSeason
