The European-style buildings to the north are the most striking landmarks of Jiyugaoka. Walking along the small hills of 2-chome and 3-chome, you'll find many restaurants, cafes, and dessert shops, especially LA VITA. As you stroll and take photos, it almost feels like you're not in Japan but in Europe.
Trendy general stores, hip cafes for afternoon tea, and fresh milk soft serve ice cream. The entire Jiyugaoka area creates a unique and elegant charm, slowly and confidently, different from the bustling crowds of tourists in Shinjuku and the youthful energy of Shibuya.
Finally, you can visit Kumano Shrine, which originally had a large bamboo grove. Due to urban development, only a patch of greenery remains within the shrine. Actually, this area is a small part of Meguro Ward, with the wealthy Setagaya Ward right next door. Because of Jiyugaoka Gakuen and Tokyu Jiyugaoka Station, since Showa 7 (1932), this area with fewer than 10,000 residents has been called Jiyugaoka.
📍Address: 2 Chome-8-3 Jiyugaoka, Meguro City, Tokyo 152-0035 Japan
🚗 Transfer from Shibuya to Tokyu Railway to Jiyugaoka Station, about ten minutes.
