🏷️ Isamu Noguchi 【Paradise】 Installation Free Admission

The Sogetsu Kaikan building was designed by Kenzo Tange. As the building was nearing completion, Isamu Noguchi was invited to create the interior garden. Although the creative process involved building first and then installing the artwork, the 【Paradise】 installation interacts closely with the architecture. The installation faces the resting platform of the spiral staircase, perfectly aligned with the direction of the top windows. Due to the raised ground level at the entrance, the entire installation cannot be viewed at once; it must be experienced step by step by ascending the stairs floor by floor.

The Sogetsu Kaikan is mainly used for office work and floral art activities, with limited areas open to visitors. If you are not a floral art enthusiast, there is no need to purchase tickets to visit the floral exhibitions upstairs. The café is suitable for a short break, though the coffee taste is average. The public furniture in the building mostly features KNOLL’s tulip series, inspired by the shape of tulips, complementing the style of the building perfectly.
