Value-for-money hotel
I've stayed at several hotels in the OMO series by Hoshino Group, and this one is truly surprising!
📍First, OMO locations are generally well chosen. This one is in Gotanda, about 500-600 meters from the Yamanote Line🚇. It's convenient to get anywhere along the Yamanote Line, with about a 20-minute ride to Shinjuku or Nakameguro Daikanyama. I've also stayed at OMO5 Otsuka, but Otsuka has fewer room types, smaller rooms, and personally, I feel Gotanda is more convenient in terms of location and surroundings.
Room🛏️:
Our family of three chose the deluxe room type. Children under three stay free. The room is about 35 square meters. For the same price, hotels I've stayed at in Shinjuku barely had enough space to open a suitcase🧳. Here, there are two single beds just under one meter wide and a large tatami mat. In the evening, you can overlook the city🌆 and see a beautiful sunset, but the curtains are a bit sheer, so it's easy to be woken up by the morning light.
The hotel’s 15th floor has vending machines, an ice maker🧊, and washing machines.
Food🍱: The hotel’s breakfast is also good, featuring a variety of rice balls🍙. You can choose not to book breakfast when reserving the room and buy it later if you want, as there are many great food options nearby. During our four-day stay, we only ate one meal at the hotel.
Downstairs is Gotanda Shokudo, offering many simple meal options; along the route near Gotanda Station on the Yamanote Line, there are plenty of eateries — including the popular Saison ☕️, perfect for brunch, and my favorite abura soba!!🍜 Also, there’s a standing udon shop that’s always crowded from morning till night but has quick turnover.
