An Intellectual and Romantic Walk in Tokyo

From the tranquility of the University of Tokyo to the night views of Tokyo Tower and Mori Tower, and the old charm of Kamakura

📖 Day 1 – Strolling the University of Tokyo Campus, Following the Scent of Knowledge

I got off early in the morning at Hongō-sanchōme Station and headed to the University of Tokyo.
Between the red brick buildings and the lush ginkgo tree-lined paths, a quiet and solemn atmosphere flowed.
Especially in front of the “Akamon (Red Gate),” a famous photo spot, the sunlight filtering through the vintage gate and trees was truly serene.

As you slowly walk around the campus, you can feel the breath of Japan’s highest intellect,
and the sight of students riding bicycles felt like a scene from a movie.

🎒 TIP: Sit on a bench in front of the library and eat your lunchbox to feel like a University of Tokyo student!

🗼 Day 2 – Tokyo Tower, Capturing Tokyo from the Red Iron Tower

An unmissable symbol of Tokyo travel, Tokyo Tower!
The sight of the red iron tower stretching up to the sky naturally makes you marvel the moment you see it.
The night view is great, but personally, the best time was at sunset.
The city of Tokyo turning red and the lights turning on one by one is truly a moment you can’t miss.

Below the tower, there’s the official Tokyo Tower shop and small cafes, making it fun to explore.
It was especially interesting to compare it with Seoul Tower, which has a similar yet completely different mood.

📍 TIP: Book your Main Deck + Top Deck tickets online in advance!

🌃 Day 3 – Mori Tower, The Pinnacle of Tokyo Night Views

When you go up Mori Tower in Roppongi Hills, you get a panoramic view of Tokyo’s nightscape.
Especially when standing in front of the glass window, you can see everything from Tokyo Tower to the distant silhouette of Mount Fuji.

The observation deck is nice indoors, but if you go up to the *Sky Deck (outdoor)*, you can feel the fresh Tokyo air with the wind.
The combination of the night sky and city lights is truly like a scene from a movie.

The nearby Mori Art Museum focuses on contemporary exhibitions and is famous for its stylish displays and quiet atmosphere.
Mori Tower felt like a space embracing both Tokyo’s present and future.

📷 TIP: The Sky Deck is windy, so be sure to bring a scarf!

🚃 Day 4 – Kamakura, Feeling the Old Charm of Japan

About an hour from Tokyo Station on the JR Yokosuka Line, you arrive in Kamakura.
This is a quiet town that still retains the feel of the Edo period,
famous for its narrow alleys, vintage shops, and the Great Buddha of Kōtoku-in.

Standing in front of the “Kōtoku-in (Great Buddha)” is overwhelming in silence.
In the weighty calmness, my heart felt peaceful.
On Ginza Street, you can also enjoy small shopping like pottery, cream puffs, and matcha desserts.
Though it was a short day trip, it was enough to feel the depth of Japan.

🌿 TIP: Be sure to stop by the handmade ochazuke shop in front of Kamakura Station! Warm and mild flavor.
