Roppongi Hills Mori Art Museum "Haruomi Hosono Exhibition" Archive Experience
The "Haruomi Hosono Exhibition" held at the Mori Art Museum in Roppongi Hills was a valuable exhibition offering a comprehensive overview of the work of Haruomi Hosono, one of Japan's leading artists. His musical career spanning half a century, which has influenced the world through YMO (Yellow Magic Orchestra) and his solo career, was presented in a three-dimensional manner through video, audio, and materials.
The exhibition began with his roots in Happy End, and covered a wide range of activities, from YMO's techno-pop whirlwind to ambient music and film scores. Rare instruments, stage costumes, and handwritten scores were also on display, offering a truly unique glimpse into the history of music. In particular, the video booth, featuring footage of past live performances and production scenes, offered a truly enjoyable experience for music fans of all ages.
The Mori Art Museum's unique high-floor views, combined with the opportunity to spend a special time immersed in art and music, are another attraction. Related talk events and workshops were also held during the exhibition, allowing visitors to experience the profound depth of Hosono's music from multiple angles.
Roppongi Hills is also home to a wide variety of shopping and dining options, so we recommend taking a break at the Mori Garden after the exhibition or chatting about music at a nearby restaurant.
Although the "Haruomi Hosono Exhibition" has already concluded, it remains an essential part of looking back on Japanese music culture and a testament to the Mori Art Museum's diverse planning capabilities. It remains a strong memory of my tour of Roppongi Hills' cultural spots.
