Angel Road on Shodo Island

Angel Road is a sandbar connecting Nakamae Island, where Tonosho Port is located, to Benten Island. During high tide, the sandbar is submerged, but during low tide, it emerges from the water and becomes walkable, extending all the way to Oyo Island. When we checked in at the Sora Umiro Hotel on the hillside at around 5 PM on October 20, Angel Road was still underwater. While most visitors stood at one end observing, we waded across barefoot through the shallow water. The next morning at 06:40, Angel Road had emerged several centimeters above the water surface, making it easy to walk to Nakayo Island and Oyo Island. After walking back and forth on Angel Road, we climbed to the Yokusonotoka Observatory to get a bird's-eye view of Angel Road, which was absolutely beautiful. October 20/21, 2024 Angel Road
