💞Recommended Reasons:
The origins of Toruń's urban development trace back to the Teutonic Order, which established the castle and its territory in the mid-13th century.

Toruń Castle was once a significant long-term stronghold for the knights. However, in 1454, the residents of Toruń revolted against the Teutonic Order's authority over the land, leading to the castle's destruction. After the damage, the area underwent reconstruction.

In the 17th century, when Swedish forces attacked the city, Toruń's residents built fortifications around the area. Two centuries later, under Prussian rule in 1872, the city was surrounded by inner and outer walls along with extensive defensive structures, making it one of Poland's most well-preserved ancient city walls today.

Currently, most of the castle remains as ruins, with the more intact areas being the cellars and parts of the towers, which visitors can explore with an admission ticket.

Today, in addition to serving as an exhibition space for tourists, the castle occasionally hosts concerts and championship events.
