[Tottori Prefecture] "Shirato Shrine" - the setting of the myth "The White Rabbit of Inaba" ⛩️

We went to "Shirato Shrine" in Tottori Prefecture, the setting of the myth "The White Rabbit of Inaba" 🐇

This place has a long history and a clear history, with its name mentioned in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki ⛩️

It is said that it has been worshiped as a shrine that cures skin diseases such as burns due to the myth!

On both sides of the mountain path leading to the shrine grounds, stone statues with a white rabbit motif stand, and the chozuya (purification fountain) was also unique to this place, which was refreshing 👀

Along the path leading to the shrine grounds, there is also "Mitarai Pond," where the white rabbit washed and healed its wounds in the myth "The White Rabbit of Inaba." The water level of the pond is kept constant regardless of the season, so it is also called "the pond of immortality and immortality."

The worship hall has a splendid appearance, and although the grounds are not that large, they are somehow enveloped in a solemn atmosphere.

*On the way, the stone statues of the white rabbit and the torii gates are outlined in red letters. There are stones with this inscription piled up here and there, and I heard at the shrine office that they are called "musubi stones" and that if you throw them on the torii gate and they land nicely, you will be blessed with a good match 🪨
These days, many people don't throw them, but make an offering to the stone statue of the white rabbit with their wishes 🐇
By the way, I followed the custom and threw it on the torii gate, but it fell without even touching it...😂
The white rabbit is also spoken of in mythology as the god of matchmaking 🐇
In 2010, it was certified as a sacred place for lovers as the birthplace of Japan's first love story! If you go to Tottori, why not step into the world of mythology? 😌
