🚩Route
Day 1: Depart in the morning → Arrive at Kinosaki Onsen → Visit outdoor baths (3-4 baths) → Stroll through the hot spring town and stay at a riverside inn
Day 2: Morning bath → Hot spring egg experience → Detour to Kinosaki Ropeway or Kinosaki Marine World → Return
🏖️Photogenic spots
The streets along the Otani River with swaying willows (walking around in a yukata is especially photogenic!)
Footbath spot in front of Kinosaki Onsen Station
View from the ropeway (you can see the Sea of Japan if the weather is good)
A path along the river lit up with lanterns at night
🚇Transportation
Car: Parking is available at inns and public parking lots (easy on weekdays)
Train: From Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe, you can access the inn by taking the "Konotori" or "Hamakaze" express trains. The inn is within walking distance of the station or there is a shuttle service.
📷 Recommended photo locations
A two-shot in yukata from a stone bridge along the river
In front of the outdoor bath with the "yu" sign in the background
Observation deck at the top of the ropeway
Taking a photo while taking a foot bath with the steam is also a very relaxing scene
♨️ Gourmet
Hot spring eggs (can be made near Jizo-yu or Ichino-yu): simple but delicious!
Crab dishes (usually only available in winter, but some restaurants offer them all year round)
Tajima beef steak and sukiyaki: often available for dinner at inns
Ramune and local beer after a bath are also surprisingly good
*They close early at night, so it's a good idea to decide where to have dinner before 6pm!
🏠 Recommended accommodations
Long-established inns along the river: the view from the rooms is great, and many rooms have private baths
Inns with free passes to outdoor baths: often receive free passes to seven outdoor baths
Inns where you can choose your yukata also feel more like a date
💡 Things to note
Weekdays are pretty empty, so it's a hidden gem! However, be aware that many restaurants are closed.
If you are going out for dinner, it is safe to look for a restaurant before 6pm. There are many days when the baths are closed, so it is best to check in advance.
Many outdoor baths close by around 11pm. It is best to combine it with the private baths at the inn to create a schedule.
👘 Recommended outdoor baths (7 baths) (additional items)
Ichinoyu: A fun classic with a cave bath
Jizoyu: A warm atmosphere frequented by locals
Goshonoyu: Beautiful open-air bath like a waterfall
*There are also other baths such as Mandarayu, Konoyu, Yanagiyu, and Satonoyu. You can conquer them all!
💑Recommended points for couples #KinosakiOnsen #HyogoTourism #Onsen #OnsenTrip
Walk hand in hand along the river in yukata
A little relaxing talk on a foot bath date
Onsen time alone in a private bath or room bath
You can spend time quietly, so it is perfect for those who want to cherish "healing time" rather than a tourist spot.
