A Louvre Museum in the mountains of Mie Prefecture?! The Louvre Sculpture Museum is the only sister museum in Japan to the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, and was built with official approval. Its majestic European architecture makes it feel like you're in a different country the moment you step inside.
The museum is filled with faithful reproductions of sculptures found in the original Louvre. You can get up close and personal with masterpieces you've seen in textbooks, like the Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, and Tutankhamun. Photography is also allowed, so you'll feel like you're on a trip to Paris and it's perfect for taking great photos on social media!
Next door is the Great Kannon Temple, known for its golden Kannon statue. Visiting both museums allows you to enjoy the mysterious contrast between art and faith. This museum is recommended not only for art lovers, but also for those looking for a slightly unusual museum tour.
