Located on the Uji Shrine side is a statue depicting the scene from The Tale of Genji in which Nioumiya and Ukifune set out on the Uji River in a small boat. The bridge, built in 1972 and 74 meters long, is named after the bridge that appears in the story. The Asagiri Bridge stretches from the Uji Shrine side to Tachibanajima Island. It offers a scenic view of the green mountains and sparkling river.
