🇯🇵One-day trip to Uji～🍵

I believe you have all heard of Uji Matcha🍵 This time we went on a day trip to Uji. In addition to enjoying the local history and culture, we also had to try the most famous matcha in Uji! Although the weather was not so good, overcast, but instead the whole thing became quite comfortable, light and relaxed, feeling quite good😄

First, we went to Equality House. Despite the fact that the sky is not very beautiful, the architecture of Byodo-in is really historical and completely representative of traditional Japanese architecture. When you enter the courtyard, you will see a large pond with super clear water. The whole building is reflected on the water, which is very classical. As I walked over there, I felt super calm, as if I had returned to ancient times.

After that, we switched to Ujigawa. The scenery by the Uji River is really beautiful, although the sky is cloudy, but the river is clear to the bottom, and there are some people walking there, seeing the scenery will not feel bored at all, very chill🫶🏻 Whether walking or stopping to take pictures, is a kind of relaxation.

Then there’s the Uji Shrine and Uji Kami Shrine. Both shrines are not very big, but they have a strong historical atmosphere. Uji Shrine is a rabbit-themed shrine, the royal guard inside is quite cheap 🥰 And Uji Kami Shrine is hidden in the woods, not much noise, very quiet. Those ancient trees and shady air were truly relaxing as they were separated from the world outside.

After that, we went to Doen Tea House, which is the oldest tea house in Japan. When you enter, you can feel the ancient tea house atmosphere, which is very characteristic. We had a bowl of noodles and a portion of shaved ice. To be honest, shaved ice is really delicious! Unlike the usual rough shaved ice, the ice here is very small, the texture is super smooth, there is no ice shards when you bite, and there is a sweet taste, very happy after eating!

Finally, we went to Kuemon Ito to buy souvenirs. This shop is just right. There are so many choices of matcha products. I bought some matcha powder back and some tea flavored snacks. Plus, their ice cream looks really super pretty, and while the taste isn’t that special, it’s visually appealing. The photo was taken beautifully!

Overall, although this trip to Uji was overcast, it did not affect my mood. The overall schedule was unhurried, relaxed and comfortable, just right.
