Uji: A small town that moves at its own pace but captures your heart.

How about visiting Uji when sightseeing in Kyoto?
Matcha sweets, matcha cuisine, eating while walking around, historic temples, and experience Zen meditation and copying sutras at temples.
There are not as many people as in the center of Kyoto, so you can comfortably sightsee and take photos at photogenic spots!
I visited in mid-November after being recommended by a friend who lives in Uji.
Tatsumiya is a historic restaurant that began business as a tea wholesaler in 1840 and began business as a restaurant in 1913.
Since it was the weekend, I made a reservation for a kaiseki lunch.
It seems that you can get in without a reservation on weekdays if the timing is right, but it is a popular restaurant, so I recommend making a reservation!
Persimmon tempura, matsutake mushroom dobinmushi, sawara mackerel grilled with fig miso, mushroom rice, and more... a variety of dishes that you can fully enjoy autumn.
We were able to enjoy the food while relaxing and chatting in a private room overlooking the Uji River.
The staff are beautifully dressed in kimonos and the hospitality is excellent.
This is a must-visit shop for tourists in Uji.
By the way, it used to be a tea wholesaler, so the complimentary tea was also excellent!
