Stay at an eco-friendly hotel near Sydney and be neighbors with wild kangaroos

The first time I stayed at a hotel where kangaroos hopped right past my room door, this magical experience happened at The Lane Retreat in Hunter Valley.
In the early morning, holding a bowl of cereal at the doorstep, bathed in soft morning light. Not far away by the vineyard, a few kangaroos stood quietly, curiously watching me, the "unexpected guest." At that moment, it felt as if all of nature belonged to me. I planned to visit them again the next day, but they disappeared like hermits, leaving a little regret but also a unique memory of the trip.
Although Hunter Valley sounds very natural and rustic, The Lane Retreat’s design is full of modern aesthetics. The pure white buildings and clean lines create a strong structure in the vast countryside, making every snapshot look like a masterpiece. According to many guests, this place perfectly blends wild charm with refinement, offering both privacy and photogenic scenes.
Time slows down here. In the afternoon, the pink-purple sunset dyes the vineyard in dreamy colors; at night, with no light pollution, you can look up to see a dazzling starry Milky Way.
I really wish every day could be this sunny, letting this peacefulness away from the hustle and bustle, and the healing closeness to nature, last a little longer. If you also long for a holiday that is both wild and stylish, this is definitely Hunter Valley’s hidden gem.
