Shangde International Hotel in Urumqi, a new hotel next to Xinjiang Medical University

Stay at the Shangde International Hotel in Urumqi, a newly opened five-star hotel in 2023. Located at the foot of Bogda Peak in Xinjiang, it is just a wall away from Xinjiang Medical University and next to the Xinjiang Medical University Hospital. Although it is not in the bustling city center, it is relatively quiet.

The hotel features high-end and grand decor, with marble floors and a magnificent high-ceiling lobby. The deluxe twin room we stayed in was 38 square meters, with a simple and elegant style, spacious and bright. The price for a double room with breakfast on weekdays is only 2000 TWD, which is quite affordable and offers good value for money.

Xinjiang is vast and sparsely populated, so traveling to major attractions requires some driving. Urumqi is located at a central hub, with the nearest scenic spot being Shuimogou. Further out, there are the Heavenly Lake of Tianshan and the Grand Canyon of Tianshan, both offering stunning scenery.
