Maoshan, with its main mountain range located in Xuebu Town, Jintan City, is one of the major mountain ranges in Jiangsu Province. Its main peak, Damao Peak, rises 372.5 meters above sea level. It is a national 4A- level scenic spot. Maoshan is a renowned Taoist mountain in Jiangsu Province and the birthplace of the Shangqing School of Taoism. Known by Taoists as the " Shangqing Zongtan , " it has enjoyed the reputation of being Taoism's " First Blessed Land and Eighth Cave Heaven " since the Tang and Song dynasties.
Maoshan's temples and monasteries were once renowned as " the most numerous in the world , " reaching as many as 257 at its peak , encompassing over 5,000 rooms . Despite the devastation caused by war during the Taiping Rebellion, only three temples and five monasteries remained by the end of the Qing Dynasty . As the saying goes, " For good fortune, visit the blessed land of Maoshan ." Jiuxiao Wanfu Palace (Dinggong), a key site of Maoshan Taoist culture, has long been a must-see for pilgrims and incense burners.

The mountains are stacked, shrouded in clouds and mist, and the climate is pleasant.
